چکیده

In the current study, the stem wood of Millettia ovalifolia was evaluated for antifungal, insecticidal and phytotoxic activities. The results revealed that all the fractions showed no antibacterial activity against the tested bacterial strains. In case of antifungal activity, only ethyl acetate (EA) and chloroform (C) fractions exhibited minimum inhibitory concentration both at 500 μg/ml against Microsporum canis. The results of insecticidal activity reveled that ethyl acetate and chloroform fractions were effective against Tribolium castaneum, Rhyzopertha dominica and Callos bruchuanalis. The phytotoxicity data showed that all the fractions affected the growth of lemna minor at the concentration level of 500 μg/ml. The ethyl acetate (EA) and chloroform (C) fractions were found biologically active. These fractions should be further investigated for potential antifungal, insecticidal and phytotoxic compounds.

Antiprotozoal activities of Millettia richardiana (Fabaceae) from Madagascar.

With at least 60% of the Millettia species (Fabaceae) being in medicinal use, we found it relevant to assess the potential antiprotozoal and antifungal activities of Millettia richardiana. Water and methanol crude extracts of the stem barks from M. richardiana and the six fractions resulting from the fractionation of the methanol extract were tested. The dichloromethane extracted fraction showe...

Bioscreening of Oxypeucedanin, a Known Furanocoumarin

Objective(s) As an important class of natural products, coumarins exhibit many biological activities and the diversity of their bioactivity is so huge that the pharmacological promiscuity has been applied on their case. Oxypeucedanine also named as prangolarin is a linear furanocoumarin with an oxygenated prenylated substitution at C-5 of the nucleus. To our knowledge, there are few reports on...
